I bought this for my daughter for Christmas but ended up giving it to her day-before-yesterday, in the lead-up to the 50th Anniversary show. She was so thrilled!Already, she has spent hours with this book, and it's a treasure I know she'll love in the years to come.A lot of time and attention clearly went into the design and production of this book. The pictures are beautiful. Rich colors, great choices. The layout is very nice. The paper quality is great.One caution: If you're looking for a lot of text, you may want to consider a different book. The focus here is on the images, which are accompanied by brief descriptions and lots of short-paragraph text blocks. It's only 208 pages, so there's not much writing here. This book won't give a new Who fan any depth of understanding.What this book does offer is a very nicely presented overview of the series. Longtime fans will love being reminded of their favorites. Those who don't know Doctor Who just might find themselves intrigued enough to go get hooked.

We all know "that" guy ; the super fan that knows everything about what ever the topic is , in this case DoctorWho , and acts like it is all that matters , and even talks down to any other fan that doesnt know as much as they do about the subject ..........ironically they dont usually dont know anything about anything else BUT Doctor Who .This is NOT the book for "that" guy , its "the" book for the rest of us who LOVE doctor who , but have lives and realize there is a world beyond a sci fi TV show .First what the book is NOT : the go to encyclopedia of DrWho , listing every character and tool and species , etc ........ of the series . It does NOT give you a super indepth discription of every episode . It does NOT talk over your head , or expect you to be "that " guy to understand the material inside . This book does NOT cover all the "making of" , or behind the scenes drama that went into the shows , if you are looking for that , you can find several other books , which usually appeal to "that" guy .What the book IS : Each doctor is covered in their own section . each section covers just one doctor , with a brief 2 paragraph introduction about who the doctor "is" , how he compares to the last one , and a briefe paragraph or 2 about the actor who was chosen . Next , each section lists all the episodes that doctor stared in durring his tenure in the part . This is followed by a brief listing of some of the more important episodes that doctor was in with a paragraph or 2 about them . Next is a list of the companions for that doctor along with a brief blurb about the character and when they came in and left the doctors company . After that is a listing of the more important enemies/threats that doctor faced durring his run . This is followed by a brief talk about how that particular doctor viewed/used technology , which is much more interesting than it sounds . Lastly , there is a page dealing with the doctors demise and regeneration . some of the above enteries will have tiny little tidbits of trivia about the behind the scenes type stuff , and ALL of it is accompanied by LOTS of GREAT still photographs from the episodes them selves .i was originally apprehensive when I was considering ordering it because it is a new book , and its seems like most of the new books being done on DoctorWho are being dumbed down for kids . I was TOTALLY surprised when i read this one , because its just written for the average fan of the show , regardless of age .you dont NEED this book to enjoy the show , but if you are a fan of the show , it gives you something extra to think about while watching your favorite episodes .The only thing missing from this book was that it ONLY dealt with the TV Doctors , NOT the cinema movies , which i understand why they would leave it out , but it is something i would have expected to see based on the publishers description .let me close with saying this is probably the best DW book i have ever bought , because its just so much fun to flip through and read !

I bought 2 of these guides, one for my Whovian hubby and the other for his Whovian best friend! As I am also a Whovian, with Dr. #10 being my favorite ~ David Tennant, I was compelled to look at the book before wrapping them for Christmas! You do receive color photos of all of the characters, where applicable. It shows every doctor through Doctor #11, Matt Smith. It goes through each doctor, his companions, and his foes. In the beginning of each chapter, where the new doctor has regenerated, it goes through a tiny bio of that actor's personal life; describes a bit about his doctor's character and any costume and personality changes. There is a "Through the Vortex" section, describing each season of that particular doctor. This really is a guide. Enjoy!

It's like this book was written for me. Fun, simple, incredible experiments and ideas for playing around with home-made electronic sounds. I'd spent a year playing with 555-style oscillators from the Forest Mims playbook to make synthesizers; but Forrest has musical circuits as an afterthought for his more practical electronic projects. I was at a complete standstill, full of ideas, but doing them incorrectly and getting nowhere.This book has exactly what I need to go up a few levels. And while it's at it, tons of really fun ideas for the sound devices themselves. Put loose change in a speaker cone, hook it up to a nine volt battery, dangle some leads and see what you get! Who knew? And Nicolas writes pretty funny as well; I'd never seen a resistor/capacitor setup compared to a Monty Python sketch before.I have one complaint about the book. There's too much cool stuff. I finish a chapter, ready to try everything, and then the next chapter has even better ideas. And then I look at all the chapters remaining and wonder where I'll find the time to do it all. I've got an online order for Jameco for which I'm afraid to hit "send" until I re-read it all again. Meanwhile, I've had a blast doing the projects from the first few chapters.

This book is, apparently, compiled from course materials for what must be a very fun class. It mostly covers two broad topics. First, producing unexpected sounds from radios and the circuit boards in toys, and modifying those devices in simple ways, such as adding photoresistors or new circuit board connections. Second, building simple synthesizers from scratch. The skills taught are basic, and form the building blocks for infinite exploration. The tools and parts needed are all inexpensive (often costing mere pennies). The included CD is great fun, but best saved for later listening, since it contains "spoilers" of what some of the projects might sound like.Because of the book's origination in a class situation, the explanations and pictures are not always ideally clear. There are a lot of typos. However, the writing is so engaging and the book is so much fun that it still deserves 5 stars. Where the book is incomplete ("how to I de-solder something?"), the Web is there.The book is clearly aimed at musicians without any electronics experience. Nonmusicians might still enjoy it, but a joy in playing with sound is absolutely required. I suspect the book would be way too basic for people with any significant experience in electronics.As sidebars, the book includes a considerable amount of history of electronic music -- who's who and what they've been up to.

This is a really fun book, with lots of projects for budding electronic musicians. But it goes beyond that: It's a solid intro to electronics and CMOS components. I went into this book thinking it might be too basic, yet I walked away with a lot of ideas, and some interesting new techniquess.I wish that more electronics writers would cover the material with this author's style and accuracy. Also, kudos for providing parts sources and for using easy to find and inexpensive components. (I've seen many people, myself included, become frustrated by hard-to-find parts lists or the use of discontinued items. These projects suffer from neither of those problems.)In the end, you'll be left wanting to know more about the components and techniques you've picked up. (You'll probably want to add Don Lancaster's classic CMOS Cookbook to your shopping cart. It will give you the details about many of these components.) Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to other books by this author.

I was hoping for a bit more in-depth information on electronics than this book gave. It's a nice "get your feet wet" kind of book, but left me with lots of questions that I think could have been included in the book. The first half of the book wasn't very interesting to me as it talked mostly about circuit bending and hacking already made electronic noise makers.

Seriously, if you are interested in making some extraterrestrial sounds/gadgetsget this book!!! I recommend reading it with Mort Garson playing in the background for ultimate knowledge absorption.

This book is absolutely incredible! So simply articulate to such technical things, and such interesting projects! This is just an all around well written project book. It has updated citations to things like what website to get bulk/cheap parts from and examples (on DVD, as well as other references) from many sonic artists who have tampered in related mad sciences. The different projects are diverse and well prepared.. It's just the greatest thing for a beginning sonic/electronics nerd! Can't say enough about how much I've gotten out of this book.

I built my first 8 inch Newtonian reflector when I was a senior in high school, using this book. It isnow a classic and, in my opinion, still one of the best "How To Build A Telescope" texts that arestill available. Written in a clear prose style, it is instructive as well as enjoyable to read. Clean diagramsand photos illustrate the text appropriately and further instruction is provided on how to use a telescopeastronomically. I became a professional astronomer but the most fun and enjoyment I experienced inmy career was using this book to build a telescope, set it up in my backyard and rediscover the moonsof Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and to wonder at the phases of Venus, just as did Galileo!

Book had water damage not listed. Binding is warped, pages stained.

When I got into making my 16" mirror in the 80's, though I had the book by Allyn J. Thompson, I wanted something more up to date. I'd thought of the Jean Texereau book but was scared away by the math (I've since learned it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be). So, I saw this book in Willmann Bell and ordered it. It was a real treat to get it as I was living in Spain at the time and books like this were not available in the base bookstore.The book is very well laid out and informative. The instructions are simple and not overly technical. It was a real pleasure to have this book as a guide because it covered larger mirrors that the Thompson book didn't. It worked great until I got to the mirror testing part, and had trouble with the Focault testing because I was having problems with astigmatism. My mirror was quite thin, and I wasn't used to the extreme shadows I was seeing. A friend in Minneapolis St. Paul came to the rescue and sent me a Ronchi grating of the proper spacing. The lines on my mirror looked like a butterfly! No wonder the Focault shadows didn't look right! In that respect, the book didn't help, but once I got the lines straighter, the Focault method Howard outlines works just fine.This book also has a lot of extra stuff that really came in handy when it came to making the scope after the mirror was done. Howard did a great job and this is another book to add to your library if you are at all interested in mirror making. Highly recommended.

About the Author

Jorge Luis Borges was born in Buenos Aires in 1989 and was educated in Europe. One of the most widely acclaimed writers of our time, he published many collections of poems, essays, and short stories before his death in Geneva in June 1986. In 1961 Borges shared the International Publisher’s prize with Samuel Beckett. The Ingram Merrill Foundation granted him its Annual Literary Award in 1966 for his “outstanding contribution to literature.” In 1971 Columbia University awarded him the first of many degrees of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa (eventually the list included both Oxford and Cambridge), that he was to receive from the English-speaking world. In 1971 he also received the fifth biennial Jerusalem Prize and in 1973 was given one of Mexico’s most prestigious cultural awards, the Alfonso Reyes Prize. In 1980 he shared with Gerardo Diego the Cervantes Prize, the Spanish world’s highest literary accolade. Borges was Director of the Argentine National Library from 1955 until 1973.   Andrew Hurley (editor, translator) is a translator of numerous works of literature, criticism, history, and memoir. He is professor emeritus at the University of Puerto Rico.

As expected

This is one of the most reserved of all of Borges' writings. It is calmer and quieter and yet more unsettling and mysterious than much of his earlier work.

Jorge Luis Borges is one of those authors everyone should read. So amazing.

A friend recommended that I get this and I'm so glad that I did! I ordered this awhile ago and devoured it! I'm ready for another go at it again! Arrived on time and in good condition.

I was introduced to Borges, more than 30 years ago, by Harlan Ellison, who so often manages to inform and entertain at the same time. Some 3 decades later, I decided to re-read "The Book of Sand" and was even more impressed this time. Judging by this volume alone, Borges may have been one of the greatest short story writers I've ever read. Granted, I'm only reading the English versions, so some praise must go to the translators, also. As a life-long reader of genre fiction (Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and Mystery-Detective), I can honestly say that, in my opinion, Borges captures the essence of these genres and shows how beautifully it can be done, with few words. His prose (again, in translation) is spare yet he sets the scene or describes a character with a sometimes startling economy, giving readers what we need to know and allowing us to think and feel for ourselves.I also appreciate the fact that Borges pays homage to some of my favorite writers. In his Author's Note to the Hardcover edition, he says he has tried to remain faithful to the example of H.G. Wells, by combining a plain (almost colloquial) style with a fantastic plot. He also credits Swift and Poe with these attributes. His story "There Are More Things" is an homage to H. P. Lovecraft, although Borges offers it up with what seems close to an apology.In this day of thicker books and longer series; in a time when the more convoluted and self-centered books seem to be favored; in an age of run-on sentences and dialogue without quotations, along with other conceits, Borges shows us that a story can be even more effective when done briefly and pointedly. He demonstrates that clarity and brevity can revive memories, evoke longings and stimulate possibilities in his readers. He believed that greatness lay not only with writers, but in their readers as well.

Trying to full describe the writings of Jorge Luis Borges is like trying to explain exactly why Leonardo da Vinci's art still captivates. The man wrote works of art.And "The Book of Sand and Shakespeare's Memory" brings together two of Borges' shorter collections, with all sorts of surreal twists in a seemingly ordinary world. These rich, slightly uneasy stories are a shining example of why people enjoy Borges -- magical, rich in language, and poignant in their finality.Interestingly, two of the stories -- one from each collection -- have strikingly similar stories. "August 25, 1983" has Borges stumbling across an older version of himself, dying as he tells Borges a bit about his future. And "The Other" has Borges at Cambridge, where he accidentally bumps into a younger version of himself, whom he imparts some wisdom to.But the stories are about far stranger things as well -- a hunt for blue tigers that leads to strangely fascinating stones, an alchemist's rose, a poet telling a king of pure beauty and wonder, receiving the hazy memories of Shakespeare, a book with no ending, the ultimate Word, a creepy religious sect, and even a Lovecraftian homage in which a man comes across grotesque aliens in a remote house.Good luck finding flaws in this book -- Borges' writing is exquisitely detailed and atmospheric, and densely packed with philosophical pockets. And these stories are magical realism in the purest sense, with a slight, almost mystical twist to the everyday events that we take for granted -- being mistaken for someone else, being sold a book, et cetera.And Borges wraps these stories in lush, digified prose that takes a little while to wade through, but the richness of the words he uses is worth it ("The sin the two of us now share... the sin of having known Beauty, which is a gift forbidden mankind"). He's even able to craft stories very unlike his usual style -- "The Mirror and the Mask" has the style and flavour of an ancient Irish myth.Perhaps it's because these were Borges' last stories, but there's a very reflective, introspective feeling to many of them -- Borges seems to be glancing back at his life, and ahead to his death. Received book right away in excellent condition as advertised. Excellent content that is especially helpful at this time when every penny is being squeezed and staff nurses are being asked to work with bare bones staffing. Without the support of middle and upper management, nurses will burn-out even quicker than usual. Instead, they need to be part of the solution to identify processes that will eliminate double work and work-arounds that are not safe for the patient and make the nurse work twice as hard.

Required text for school. This may possibly be the most boring book I've ever read in my life. I couldn't keep myself awake reading. If you need this text for school.... get ready.

I recently discovered Vanessa Vale's work. I love her Bridgewater stories the best, but I also love the first book in this series. I gave this story four starts instead of 5 for two reasons. First, I just couldn't get over the profanity. Piper is a young woman brought up in a household with her brothers. It would be scandalous for a woman to say damn, much less the vulgar epithets that come out of Piper's mouth. Living with her brothers is no excuse. Men did not swear in front of their female relatives. I don't have a problem when explicit words are used in relation to sexual intercourse. It gives it an edge that is situational appropriate. But Pipers swear as part of her everyday conversation that is completely out of character for how any young woman of that time would have spoken. It takes away from the story, in fact it's disruptive because the story is saturated with profanity in every day conversation. Secondly, it was the norm, even for mail-order brides that at least a picture was sent to the prospective groom. It just wasn't plausible that she could have pulled off this deception. Unlike the first story, this story just seemed rushed, not well thought out. It's almost like Ms. Vale made up her mind on the outcome, then plugged in the details even though they really don't work for the time period. There is an element of "fantasy" in many of Ms. Vale's stories. It is not plausible that the Bridgewater people could keep their menage marriages a secret from the rest of the community. But in the case of this story, the foundation is so weak, that even though I enjoyed the story, the details made it difficult to give it 5 stars.

The story is the second in the Mail Order Bride of Slate Springs, but will easily read as a standalone. Slate Springs, Colorado is a small and somewhat isolated mining town that has passed a law that two men may marry and claim a wife together because of the lack of women available. After Lane and Spur seen how well for Luke and Walker Tate with their mail order bride, Celia, they decide to send off for their own mail-order bride, and the marriage was arranged by proxy, to Miss Patricia Strong.The story is full of a painful past, life and hardships of having whores for mothers, and being raised by a madam, Lil, who treated Spur Drews and Lane Haskins kindly, and have them considering each other as brothers. They eventually parted ways, Lane to the minefields, and Spur to medical school. By a sick and dying Lil will bring her “boys” back together again.Piper Dare is the youngest child, her parents are deceased, and she lives with five older and over protective brothers. She can’t even get close to a man without them interfering. She will never be more than their cook and housekeeper if she doesn't get away. Saving little bits of household money, she decides to take a stage from Witcatal, Kansas towards Colorado. With a sweet young girl as a traveling companion on the stage, she learns how she is to be a mail order bride, meeting her groom in Pueblo.“Piper was like a bright ray of sunshine, a shot of rotgut whiskey and a poked bear all put together in a tiny, feisty little body.”The story has an unexpected tragedy becoming a blessing in disguise for Piper. Piper is not a sweet, demure lady; she is a wild, feisty, impetuous redhead that can cuss like a drunken miner, play poker in a saloon, and shoot a gun and hit her target. What a shock to learn she was married to two men, Spur and Lane. What happens when she learns they visit the local whorehouse where Lil lives? With secrets on both sides, misunderstandings, anger, ugly words, a mine collapse, a runaway bride, angry brothers, and much more will keep the pages turning in this wonderful addition to the series. “She smirked in reply, and I could see she knew right then that she held all the power. We might be two dominant men, but she was the one who ruled us.”

I have been reading Vanessa's books for some time now. This stacks up with all the rest. It's a great menage with some twists along the way.Piper isn't a women to put up with her men straying (even if they actually are not). The boys aren't ready to tell her about their past. It all comes to a head when the mine collapsed. Two weeks later and the truth comes out. That's when the scenes really get HOT!!I can't wait for the next Slate Springs book!

I love Vanessa Vale's books each one is better then the last ! WoW so🔥with two men and one very feisty young lady lol . Piper is a one feisty redhead who intrigues Spurgeon and Lane with her firey temper ! The guys can't tame her completely but I'm not sure they actually want to lol .

A last minute switch gives Lane and Spur quite an unexpectedly fiery handful as their new wife. Needless to say, there are quite a few complications before they get things straightened out. I love this author's books. This book in particular has just enough heat to satisfy you, plus a wonderful story to go with it. Piper is one lucky woman to have found Lane & Spur. She is very lucky to be doted on by two men. This series is a wonderful read and I can't wait to read more of them.

Thank goodness I found it on amazon slightly higher than at book fair but less than retail price.

I didn't enjoy reading this book. I read to my 10 month in spanish so that he learns the language not stereotypes. I was offended by one of illustrations, it clearly shows a drunk man opening a bottle of champagne. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it but nonetheless it was unnecessary.

The story had a lot of potential but didn't live up to it at least for me. I read reviews that the hero and heroine were each other’s one and only.It was true and the thing that I liked most about the story. There was no manhoe behavior that I had to read about and their sexual experience was for once equal. The majority of the time in romance books the hero has too much experience and has heroine none to very little. That is sexist and I wish that the playing field was even more often. From the book summary, it appeared that the story would have a jealous and possessive hot alpha hero who initially put up a little resistance to being with the heroine. I believed that he would fight his attraction to the heroine for a short period of time but then accept it and become the pursuer. Sadly that was not the case.The heroine chased and chased the hero. It was pathetic and tedious. initially, the hero resisted responding at all. Then he became an indecisive tease. He would let the heroine initiate some form of physical contact and then stop her before the main event. When he finally stops fighting her advances, 75% of the story was over. It was too little too late as I just didn’t care anymore. She looked desperate and needed and he appeared to be an indecisive wuss. The lack of feeling behind the claimed possessiveness was disappointing as well. All telling and no showing.Another thing that really irritated me was how the heroine got changed. I believed that from reading the book summary and reviews that the hero would lose control due to his intense need of the heroine and bite her during a passionate encounter. Sadly I was wrong again. The hero didn’t change the hero by losing control of his bloodlust during sexy times. Nope. He accidentally cut his lip and kissed her transferring his disease. It was such a letdown, how I felt about the majority of the story.

I am disappointed--the first two books (well, book and a half) in this series are fun, romantic, imaginative, and so well-written. (See my review of Tarnished Knight.) I was very excited about the new addition, Heart of Iron. Unfortunately the author succumbs to an all too common temptation in a series: the excessive introduction and description of new characters for future books. The "Mercury" siblings and Ingrid, Jasper the blue blood soldier, more Leo Barrons, the Norwegian verwulfen Astrid and Eric. I don't care about the details of Astrid's barbarian princess outfit or the narrow span of her waist when Lena is in peril. Plus, the plot is just not as tight and focused because future conflicts are clearly being set up, and we never really learn much more about Will and Lena, the main couple. Yes, we spend time with them, time in which they are usually at odds, yawn!--but I don't know any more about them than I did on page 1, especially Will. For example, Will's time in captivity is summed up in a one page discussion. We never get to explore all the vulnerable and endearing aspects of his personality the author hinted at in the previous stories, like his fear/mistrust of women, his mistaken attraction to Blade, his longing for physical contact, his room full of battered children's books, rocks, feathers, etc. I wanted to know so much more about this hulking, strangely vulnerable hero. And what we learn about Lena I don't really like. She admits to playing games with Will, which is understandable but still annoying. She spies for the humanist movement because she is, essentially, bored. Yes, there is a previously unhinted at event in her past which feels like a trumped up, last-minute motive, but even Lena herself admits she was looking for a cause, something to do. Also, she spends way too much of the story keeping various secrets that endanger her, which doesn't make sense since she has POWERFUL and TRUSTED allies to whom she could turn for help (Will, Blade, Rip, Leo). And, knowing a blood-thirsty and cruel aristocrat is stalking her, she persists in wandering around social events alone, going down the dark hall, stepping on to the deserted terrace etc, veering dangerously close to TSTL territory. And the resolution to the obstacle in her relationship with Will was trite and simplistic.Oh, and as another reviewer pointed out, the romance doesn't really happen until the end.So, am I sorry I bought the book? No. Maybe my hopes were too high. Maybe I liked Will too much, making it impossible to fulfill my expectations.Do I recommend the series? Yes, it's still a cut above most of what's out there.Will I read this author again? Yes. But I do hope the she recaptures a bit more of her early magic.

I re-read books 1 through 3 immediately prior to this book being released, and it was like I was missing an entire book between #3 and #4. It was really irritating to see events referenced, and whole new (major) characters involved without the proper backstory that you'd have if they were introduced within this series. There's a missing piece here, possibly hidden in short stories or in the parallel series with Scarlett but I cannot make sense of the timeline reading these as a separate series, and that's really irritating as a reader. I can't even figure out what story is the missing piece based on reading order published on amazon or goodreads, and I shouldn't have to work this hard to figure that stuff out.Past that disappointing gaping hole in the story line, it is of course well written and enjoyable and worth the read. Melissa Olson remains one of my favorite independent authors that you should support any way you can. I just wish the series timeline had been handled differently.

Lex the boundary witch is one of my favorite characters but here she was a disappointment. I liked her strength, her self reliance and her chutspah. In this latest book, however, she was weak, defensive and kind of whiny, to be frank--not the Lex I thought I knew from the three previous books. Lot of filler in this book, stuff that inched the story along, but wasn't all that compelling. Author Melissa seems to love her Scarlet character but give short shrift to witch Lex. If there are further adventures of Lex and her buds, I hope they'll be more bold and daring.

I thought this would be an easy task: receive an advance copy from the publisher, read it, and post my honest opinion. Nothing hard there, right?Wrong.Because what I want to do is write ABOUT the novel itself.About the echoes of the past, the excitement of the present, and the glimpses of where Lex's and the others' stories may go.About the MANY possible meanings of the title, the things that seemed solid that are either broken or could break.But all I can do is offer it to you as a tremendous novel with rich characters and situations in a world that keeps growing and challenging instead of merely getting comfortable.Melissa F. Olson writes carefully. I commend it to you as something to be read carefully. And with a look to the many possible applications of the title.[For the record, even though I read the advance copy, I've had the book preordered for months and I'm excited to have it magically show up on my Kindle.]Edit: I have to agree with another reviewer that I'm not delighted with the cover -- the others were just more enigmatic and mysterious. So this is a case where I *definitely* ask you to judge the book by its fantastic prose instead of by its packaging.

Boundary Broken by Melissa F. Olson a five-star read that will break your boundary’s. This is the forth novel in the Boundary magic series and each one just gets better than the last, I would recommend that you read them in order as we do get to see characters in this one that we have met in earlier books. This one came at just the right moment, I was sick and feeling rotten and bored stuck in bed then this one dropped and made my day. It takes you on a journey and it will lead you on so many trips, just when we discover what happened to the missing wolves something else is amiss and will astound you as well. The Colorado Old world is a place that will take you to a different world. Lex will make you feel for every character in this story, she has a way of sucking you in, but not sucking you dry, she leaves that to her other half. This is a thrilling series and I for one can’t wait for more from Melissa F. Olson

This book completely sucked me in and it enthralled me so much that I had to finish the last 15% in the car despite issues with carsickness because a little nausea was worth finding out what happened next!This book builds heavily on previous events in the series and makes reference to other Old World books as well (Sashi!!); it's been a while so I appreciated all the exposition woven in, which was sufficient to spark my memory but simultaneously made me excited to go back and re-read Lex's other books.Melissa F. Olson's Old World series is my favorite thing in urban fantasy. I love the world of witches, vampires, werewolves, and the occasional nullifying force, with all factions having their own internal politics as well as politics between species. She has heroines who kick butt, unforgettable supporting characters, and a strong sense of place. Highly recommended! Now the hard part: waiting for the next one.

Yay for more Lex!This was a fantastic addition to the series, I just loved it.I loved the way she (Melissa Olson) was able to wrap up this book, and still leave me dying for the next one, WITHOUT a huge cliffhanger. Huge cliffhangers always seem like a cheap shot to me, it's like I was going to get the next book, anyways, so there's no reason for that nonsense. And I'm rambling, lol.Anyways, this is an awesome book, in a great series. Make sure you've read the other books in the series to get the most out of it :)

If you enjoyed the first 3 Lex novels you will enjoy this addition. I liked the appearance of some characters from other old world books. It will be interesting to see where the books lead with the changes made. My only reason for giving this book a 4 instead of a 5 is because Lex isn’t my favorite character to follow along with (I ❤️ Scarlett) and I wasn’t a fan of the romance issues. I felt like the romantic tension between Lex and Simon was awkward and just didn’t work. Otherwise the story was great.

Another great book from Melissa Olson. I love her characters, and her stories always leave me wanting more. If you haven’t read the previous books in her Boundary Magic series, you should start there. If you’re a fan of great witch, vampire, and werewolf characters I highly recommend you check out this series and her other ones also.
