This well-written book takes a mature philosophical view of what it really means to be a lawyer. Great read for anyone in the legal profession!! :)

I fear an earlier reviewer either misunderstood (or just failed to understand) Luban's book, because the logic is far from circular, and the text is one of the best and most thorough treatments of the limits of role morality within the adversarial system. Yes, it's a difficult book, but this is a difficult subject, and the level of nuance and subtlety in Luban's argument demands careful reading. I've taught legal ethics for 15 years, and I have yet to find a book that treats both the legal and philosophical issues as well as Luban's does. I highly recommend this book, either for the philosophically minded lawyer or the legally inclined philosopher.

The set is very well made as far as the books go.Good quality paper, though marker or heavy ink will bleed through. I use a ball point pen and it doesn’t cause an issue. Just don’t use a sharpee or anything.I purchased this set so I can read the Bible and go back later and see my notes as I age and grow. The series is perfect for that.The books had minimal scuffs and a bent corner but I blame shipping on that and not the product so I won’t take off a star, since this is a product review and not a shipping review.I think this works wonderful as a gift or for personal use and can’t wait to get started.

I got my set last week. They are beautifully made. I ordered both the NT and the OT together, so they shipped in a nice larger box with padding straight from the manufacturer. Perhaps that is why mine came completely undamaged?I've been using mine the past week. I've been using a Pilot G-2 .38 pen, and there's no bleed through of the ink. The books stay open easy enough to write in them.At first, I was wishing that the blank pages were completely blank and did not include the little dotted lines, but after using it for a bit, I changed my mind on those and they are very helpful. It helps me make neater notes.I am currently going through Amos, and I enjoy having all the extra space on both sides of the page. I can add comments and notes right to the text, with plenty of room to be neat. For example, in 1:1, I added the reigns of the two kings mentioned, a note about the word shepherd used there (it's not the usual word used), and other things.The only thing I wish they had done differently is perhaps they could have included a blank page for notes between each of the books. For example, the volume I am using now contains Hosea, Joel, Amos, and Obadiah. I would have liked it if they had put a blank page or two between each of the books. That allows you plenty of space to put introductory notes. They did include a few extra blank pages at the very end of the entire volume. I would rather that be spread out between the Biblical books. But if that's my only complaint, I can certainly live with that.

When I received these in the mail the lid was busted. I love these only giving bad review because lid was busted.

Worried about the thicker books, but will update if I experience problems.
